SPWV Programs
Just For you (JFY)
Single Parents with Voices is being established to provide networking and mentoring/counseling for low and middle class single parents with children in the age range of infant to 16 yrs old. SPWV will create partnerships with other organizations to strengthen our network outreach programs. One of the primary programs of SPWV is the “Just for You” Program. This will consist of 5 basic counseling/mentoring sessions that will be conducted every week. The “Just for You” program is a tool to help single parents with their stressors and inabilities to accomplish their goals. The program consist of 5 sessions: the evaluation session, turnaround session, network sessions, progress session, and congratulation session.
Advocacy Program
There will be one Parent Advocate (PEP Credentials) available through SPWV for all single parent in the Captial Region for CSE meeting, treatment meeting, service provider meeting, school meeting, or to help attain mental health resources or services. Single Parents with Voices Inc. only has one Parent Advocate; therefore if there is an issue attending meetings due to scheduling, SPWV will outsource to provide the single parent with a parent advocate.
Music to soul (MTS)
The Music to Soul consists of four music therapy sessions. The Music to Soul program will help children explore other avenues to expressing their emotions other than violence. The music Mentors will access emotional well-being, physical health, social functioning, communication abilities, and cognitive skills through music Mentoring. The Music to Soul program will be based on the children’s emotional needs using music improvisation, receptive music listening, song writing, lyric creating, and beat creating. The Music to Soul Program will work closely with behavioral and emotional residential and out-patient facilities that house children under 18 years old for program volunteers.
